Hi,

Just want to share the information I posted to
news.ecomstation.nl:ecomstation.support.misc.
(shortened to the relevant parts)

I have a fully working configuration with both, UDF 2.1.2 and
RSJ 5.04. Maybe that helps figuring out the issues reported
by other people.

I don't have any problems with OS2CDROM.DMD (10.122).
Everything works fine. I tried UDF on DVD-RAM (read, format, burn)
and RSJ on CD-RW and DVD+RW (read, format, burn, finalize).
I also don't think that FP4 has any effect on the behaviour because
nothing has changed between FP3 and FP4 (I used the same drivers before too).

The only thing that could have an effect on drive access
is that I use the DANI drivers with the RSJ backdoor for
UDF (see below in my comments) and not the RSJ supplied
IDE filter driver.

Here are the important parts of my system configuration:
--------------------------------------------------------

Hardware:

 Mainboard : EPOX 7KXA
 Chipset : VIA KX133 (UDMA66 capable)
 CPU : Athlon 700
 RAM : 256 MB (133 MHz SDRAM)
SCSI controller: Tekram 315U (U-SCSI, PCI)
 ZIP100 drive : internal SCSI
CD burner : HP 9200i (internal) connected to the SCSI controller
                  (Firmware rev. 1.0e)
 DVD burner : LG 4040B (ATAPI, UDMA33, DVD+-R, DVD+-RW, DVD-RAM)
                  (Firmware rev. A300)
 DVD-ROM : Artec 16x ATAPI

 IDE controller assignments:

Primary master : Maxtor 40 GB harddisk
Primary slave : LG 4040B DVD burner
Secondary master: Maxtor 120 GB harddisk
 Secondary slave : Artec DVD-ROM

Software:

 - eComStation 1.1 German with FP4 applied
 - Reapplied kernel 14.096e_W4 to solve possible IRQ sharing issues
 - RSJ 5.04 German
 - UDF 2.1.2 package was installed before FP4 was applied
(but obviously nothing has been overridden)

Some comments on using UDF together with RSJ on SCSI burners:
-------------------------------------------------------------

In general you cannot use UDF together with RSJ installed on a SCSI
burner when LOCKDRV.FLT is used because the drive letter is then
managed by RSJ. On the mounted CD drive (which appears as a network drive)
you cannot burn with UDF. Hey, of course not, because it's an emulated
drive by RSJ.
For ATAPI drives it's different. When you use the DaniATAPI drivers
it is possible to have both, a native drive (for UDF) and the emulated
drive (from RSJ). The only thing necessary to enable this is the /RSJ
backdoor of DaniATAPI (see manual).

There is one thing that would be really helpful. For SCSI burners
a native drive should be accessable too. It's ways to complicated
to mount the drive with RSJ before reading is possible.

Hope that helps someone...

I suspect UDF performance (or not) reports would also be appreciated.
