IBM has released an update for Java 1.1.8 as of 08/31/2000. Go to

WARNING: Someone on WarpCast said that if you download the OS2JRE.EXE file and install it (as opposed to RUNTIME.EXE), it will disable Java applications in Netscape 4.61 with a message "unsupported Java version." OS2JRE.EXE when installed, unpacks into a directory called JRE11 instead of JAVA11 as previous versions did. (I have not verified this; you can e-mail Robert Gammon (rgammon51@pdq.net) for more details).
