The General Interest Group is aimed at every OS/2 user. As such, it covers a broad range of topics.

Meetings are held right after the regular monthly SCOUG meetings. Thus, they generally start about 11:30 AM and go until 12:30 - 1 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend!

We Saw TV on Our PC in July

Internet SIG leader Dave Watson provided the beef for July's General Interest Group. First he took the WinTV Go card by Hauppage, which is usually available at Fry's for between $40-50, and demoed how to install beta OS/2 drivers available from Germany. Everything worked, rabbit ears and all, though I wasn't quite sure how to handle Dave's favorite show -- the Home Shopping Network . Dave then gave us a demonstration of installing the new beta of Innotek's Macromedia Flash plugin for OS/2, which seems to work quite well and even has a trick in store under the "About" selection. Finally, he did a comparison of two OS/2 Firewall solutions; IGate and Injoy, for your home network.

Thankfully, Dave's written-up all the useful stuff from his presentation in Fast Graphics and Internet Firewalls with explanations and lots of links.
