Does anyone have any working experience with software that
can be used to run an information
line/voicemail/fax-on-demand system? By information line I
mean a system similar to the ones banks/brokerage houses
use for touchtone access to information.
I have used TTC's InfoOnCall (cirrus logic chipset version)
(www.infooncall.com) for the past year and I think that
program's great for information line stuff, but it's lousy
for voicemail and fax-on-demand. The cirrus logic chipset
version of InfoOnCall has serious problems recognizing
touchtone entries longer than 1 digit. It can take 10
attempts before the software will recognize a 3 digit
extension correctly...trying to enter a full phone number
is an experience in itself.
I've called TTC and they said they've heard that their
cirrus logic chipset version had that problem. They
recommended I try their MWAVE version. Problem is, they
can't or won't tell me if the MWAVE version has the same
problem or whether they've had similar complaints about the
MWAVE version. They just claim "most of our customers use
the Cirrus Logic version." (They did recommend their
NT-based Dialogic version though. Basically guaranteed I
wouldn't have that problem with a Dialogic modem.
Unfortuately, they won't be producing an OS/2 version for
Dialogic modems.)
If anyone has experience with the MWAVE version of
InfoOnCall please email me. If you have any experience
working with any other software package that has similar
functionality please tell me. In the meantime I'll look at
FaxWorks' voicemail functionality.
I'm looking for a solution under $500 (including modem and
software). Naturally, I prefer an OS/2 solution, but will
pursue solutions on other PC-based OS's if need be.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick Tantraphol
