If anyone is interested in OS/2 having TV card drivers, now is the time to
step forward:

I have been in communication with Hauppauge for a month or so trying to
convince them to finish development of their WinTV Beta drivers
(http://www.wdi.co.uk/os2tv/os2tv.html} but like any sound business they
need to know that the demand is there before spending the resources.

Here is a portion of a message from John Rodriguez
(jrodriguez@hauppauge.com), an engineer at Hauppauge. BTW: I included his
e-mail address because he is an OS/2 user and he wants to hear from anyone
interested in the Hauppauge WinTV products, if there is enough interest he
will then go to the decision makers and push for final driver development.

...[snip]...

Most things are in place and now it is time to bring the idea to "the
people". Here is where your experience could be helpful. We need to sell
about 2K units to cover development costs. I think it can be done, but
you may know better. Hauppauge has agreed to start development (or should
I say finish it) once I have half that number of pre orders. But how do I
ask the 500 or so people who already have boards to cough up say $20 or so
for a driver and application when new customers are only paying $10 on
top of a new board purchase? I'm penalizing the early adopters, but they
represent a good percentage of the funds I need to make this thing fly.
This is a sticky one for me. What do you think?

...[end of message]...

Sincerely,
-Jim
