All Linux distributions have HPFS support; however, the support was
read only last time I checked. I am currently running the SuSE 5.3
distribution and all I had to do was add the HPFS partitions to
/etc/fstab. (The file /etc/fstab lists the file systems to mount at
boot time.) I have also worked with RedHat 5.2 and Caldera 1.3 and
both will read HPFS partitions out of the box.

The latest update of the Linux kernel was just released about three
weeks ago. Expect to see RedHat 6.0, SuSE 6.0, and Caldera 2.0 farily
soon. I haven't checked, but the updates might have read/write support
for HPFS instead of read only.

Also, there are Linux file system drivers available for OS/2 so you can
read and write Linux ext2 file systems. The driver is on Hobbes in the
directory /pub/os2/system/drivers/filesys/ext2_240.zip. The driver
should also be available from the IBM archive of employee written
software for OS/2.
