Subject: SCOUG-General: DR-DOS lives!

I'm writing this to set the record straight on DR-DOS.

Caldera split their 'thin client' stuff, DR-DOS and
embedded Linux systems off into another company,
'Lineo'. On the details of the relation between
the two firms I'm not clear.

Anyway, you can download all of the DR-DOS 7.0X from
their web or ftp sites, and kernals for all versions
of DR-DOS from 3.31 up to Novell DOS 7, some beta stuff,
even CP/M and Gem things from these sites.
I couln't find CP/M 86, but then I took a pretty casual
look. :-)

The way things are linked up, you seem to get a different
mix depending on the protocol you use. It's probably all there
if you plow through all the directories/pages, just a matter of
convenience.

Of other interest there in the beta directory is a seperate
file for their 'loader' multi-boot utility.
It's one of my meager claims to fame of figuring out how
to use it with Warp, and having done so seem to
be in the good graces of Matthias Paul, a German expert on
DR-DOS who had worked for DR, Novell, and Caldera at various times.
A long story for some other time, but suffice it to say now
that I have versions of DR-DOS and MS-DOS 5.0 with hacked
system boot files, that boot from files 'CONFIG.D50' and 'CONFIG.M50'
respectively. :-)
