SCOUG In The Car
There's a particular audio cassette or CD which would be
an exceptional companion during the commute to work or the
Saturday errand run.
It's the audio recording of the last SCOUG General
Meeting. It's a chance to hear once again the fine points
of some particular OS/2 technology or, for those who
couldn't be there, a chance to hear it for the first time.
Sure, you can't see the speaker's accompanying screen.
(We'd advise you to keep your eyes on the road even if
it was a video recording). But there's a huge amount of
spoken info plus questions from the members during any
presentation, and that's a big value.
If you could hear Jerry Rash speak again on multimedia,
or Chris Chapman on Linksys routers, or any of dozens of
General, GIG and SIG presentations, could you find at least
one that tickles your fancy?
We think so. And we think the Board should begin with an
audio recording of the very next meeting. Put it on the
website for a "burn your own CD" download or playback to
your audio cassette recorder. Then put the file on the
SCOUG CD Of The Month.
SCOUG is throwing away its technology presentations, and
that's a shame. There are SCOUG members with extensive
audio knowledge and the Board can draw on that knowledge to
get the job done. But the very first decision the Board
must make is quite clear: to press the button marked
"Record".
