Subject: SCOUG-General: XML tool for OS/2

Content Type: text/plain

To: SCOUG General
_____

I got back in town yesterday and have been trying to catch up. On
Hobbes is a new XML editor which I just downloaded and briefly played
with, and it looks *very* nice. It doesn't teach you XML, but if you're
working with or learning XML then you should try "gX":

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/gx-0-2.txt
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/gx-0-2.zip

The gX file will eventually move to:

http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/www/util/gx-0-2.zip

gX was written by Greg Bourassa, a top-notch programmer whom I wrote
about after his 1998 presentation at Warpstock Chicago. It's a native
OS/2 app, not a port from somewhere else, and he wrote it in his
favorite programming language which again showcases how much relatively
unknown development software (in this case Prolog) is available for
OS/2.

If you're involved in XML, give gX a try. The included Help file is
good and there's a link in it to Greg's web pages where you'll find a
slide presentation of his XML presentation at the recent Warpstock
Austin.

Do it.
