Subject: SCOUG-General: SCOUG meeting gets A+

Content Type: text/plain

Now that Peter is so excited perhaps it is time to reexamine the
Sundial SIG to provide some excitement of our own. It's time to
consider a Unified Data Theory, one relating data elements, data
aggregates, and their processing. There's no reason we can't toss
in a little APL to illustrate what goes on behind the scenes in
column manipulation in MESA2. Then maybe we can look at the
functions available in MESA2, their APL equivalents, and how we
might then integrate MESA2 and APL2 with DBExpert to provide
capabilities beyond those available with Postgres or MySQL.

The point is to engage in general problem solving by separating
the problem from a specific solution. Then from a general problem
perspective, functionally defined in formal logic expressions,
look at their translation into various forms based on product
used, e.g. MESA 2 or DBExpert.

Another consideration is to look at using DBExpert with DB2 and
from their to alternative relational database managers, e.g.
MySQL. If there is no interest, I, of course, can retreat to my
shell.
