Hi,
What is the most advantageous qualification that one might obtain to
best advance one's career as an information professional? Last year I
started a new career as an info pro at a local community college, after
teaching for 22 years. I am very happy that I've made the change,
because research, and dealing with information and ideas, is truly a
labor of love for me.
At the same time, however, I am aware that having a Bachelor degree in
English and teaching experience aren't really relevant to research, and
that having the relevant qualification is going to become even more
important in the future as the discipline of research becomes more
saturated with practitioners.
Therefore, I want to start making plans now to upgrade my qualifications
so as not to risk falling by the wayside in future years. Accordingly, I
should be extremely grateful for any advice on how best to develop
myself academically (and in terms of experience as well) to best be able
to achieve success in my new career.
