My SMC power adapter is inline (lies on the floor),
has a detachable AC cord, a fixed DC output cord with
a ~5mm connector, center positive and is marked thusly:
BE-WELL Electronics, Ltd.
Model: ZD0001
Input 100-240V~, 1A, 50-60Hz
Output: 5V [DC], 1A, [center positive]
SMC could well source this item from several suppliers, so
others could be marked differently.
This is a 5V _Regulated_ (lightweight, high-frequency switching)
power supply as opposed to the common 50/60Hz transformer type
of unregulated, heavy wall wart.
Just about any 5V, 1A regulated power supply would suffice, once
the connectors are found/made to be correct. I recall seeing a
number of external Zip drive adaptors still floating around,
rated 5V/1.5A that would work, I think. The slightly higher
current rating is not a concern, as long as it is high enough.
