Subject: SCOUG-General: HP LaserJet rebate (revised - correct price)

Content Type: text/plain

Newegg, on the same site, also has the Xerox 6120N color laser (also
postscript) at a special price of $249. I purchased this model a
year ago from BestBuy for Business when Xerox had special rebates for
a net cost of about $180 including shipping. Didn't get the duplex
option which was more than the printer. However, the printer does
poor man's duplex very well--print odd or even pages first, then put
paper back in the paper tray and print the other side. Unlike my old
laserjet 4MP, the Xerox paper feed does second side printing very
well. Some of the reviews on Newegg site complain about high toner
cost, but it's much less per page than inkjet cartridges (probably
true in any laser-inkjet comparison), and when I checked, Xerox toner
was not more than HP color toner cartriges. A feature that figured in
my choice, after color which was my priority, was energy
consumption. This Xerox model beat all other printers I checked in
that performance attribute. It is noisy, could be objectionable to
some. The postscript driver does need a patch which I obtained from
someone (in Germany I think). I can provide the driver patch to
anyone who might need it.
