SAN is the part that's fuzzy. NAS is sold as an applicance, so it's
pretty easy to understand how it fits into to overall structure. It's not
so clear what manages/controls the SAN. It's not clear to me if a SAN
requires a dedicated server or just needs installable components in an
existing server.
