Bingo!
It is a problem with the speaker. If I put my ear right next to the
speaker, I can hear the PM Fax sounds, very faintly. I tried reversing the
speaker connection to the motherboard, but it stayed the same. The
connections to the speaker seem fine. I had another MB in this case that
worked fine with the speaker. So there must be something with this
motherboard. It is almost like something is shorting out the volume.
