I've only used the Warp MPG player to view a couple of railroad clips
and I don't know much about it.
There are three MPG computer animations of the future galaxy collision
between the Milky Way and Andromeda at
http://www.cita.utoronto.ca/~dubinski/tflops/
The three MPGs are high (10MB), medium (3MB) and low (1MB) resolution
animations, and this whole mess started because I was writing an article
on viewing them using the Warp 4 video player.
First, the 10MB high resolution file doesn't work with the Warp 4 video
player. Anybody know why?
Second, after three or four playings my entire machine locks up and I
have to reboot. Sometimes the lockup is accompanied by a short beep
every few seconds which I've only experienced when a hard drive gets
full. Anybody know what the beeping means? I forgot to look at the
clock so I don't know if it kept running or not.
Third, if I open the medium and low resolution animations simultaneously
(first open one, then the other) my machine locks up. Is there any way
to view two MPGs simultaneously?
Fourth, from running PSTAT /C into PMDIFF it looks like the MPG viewer
is built into PMSHELL. If I right-click on an MPG icon and look at the
Open As options there are three -- Video Editor, Player, and Play.
Anybody know what these are? The Video Editor option shows the MPG in a
bigger window.
Fifth, are there any other MPG viewers for OS/2?
The galaxy collision animation is great -- it was done on a
1152-processor supercomputer.
