I'm resending the below message.
There apparently was some loss of text when originally sent.
Everything below the dashed line was in the original
message, with the exception of the emphasises added.
The COMMAND.COM I am most familiar with is a DOS
shell program of sorts.
Whether or not the presence of this command line interpreter
affects DPMI I don't know.
I guess to be most exact, I should add that not
only does bash.exe start from COMMAND.COM,
but it also runs after started.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone have any experience using alternate
DOS (VDM) shells besides COMMAND.COM ?
I've been trying to use bash.exe, from a startdos initiated
session and all it seems to do is is print a
line of graphics characters and exit the session.
I have no trouble starting it from COMMAND.COM,
***********************************************
but I'd rather have bash.exe as the COMSPEC value,
**************************************************
and not waste the resources with COMMAND.COM.
