You must be kidding. I suspect you haven't done a fresh install lately.
Of course neither have I, but I know how much work my CID install scripts
to do put a fully upgraded Warp4 onto my test boxes.

>networking not being "included" - you still run the Warp 4 network
>installer, even to get DSL or cable modem support? What do you get that

You misunderstood. Networking is there. Serenity just has not had the
time to rewrite the installer.

>you don't get with Warp 4 + WarpUp (Duane's $10 CD)?

Last copy I bought was $20 plus S&H. You get to save the time it takes to
install all the updates. You also get the MCP kernel.

>But Kim said something about the pre-boot screen not supporting SCSI,

Don't worry. You misunderstood. One of the primary reasons for the
preboot screen is to allow SCSI device selection because the sniffers are
not good enough to do it automatically in a non-trival number of cases.

>The ones Kim mentioned seemed like they were all "lite" versions.

You apparently missed Smartsuite 1.6, DTOC 4.0 and StarOffice 5.1a. All
are full versions.

>Gwinn's SIO driver (for COM ports) doesn't work with the PCI bus, for

Sure it does. Get v2.0. See www.gwinn.com.

>example. Kim said he didn't recommend trying to use the StarOffice which
>comes with eCS; he said use the Windows version instead, under Odin, and

Everybody's got a right to their own stinking opinion. SO works fine. I
prefer Smartsuite, but that's because it's more compatible with what I
need for some of my customers.

The fact that something can be downloaded is irrelevant. There's a large
number of folks that seem to prefer to get stuff on a CD even if it is
freely available for download. The popularity of the SCOUG CD's, and the
Warp-UP CD's for that matter, show this to be true.

>like epm, won't print on some systems, hangs on large files). The big

>so I don't see why I should switch to Lotus.

Define no support. If you mean it's not getting updated regularly. Show
me any commercial OS/2 product that is getting frequent updates. The
shareware and freeware products are doing better in this regard, but none
of them, other than Odin, have the scope or complexity of Smartsuite.

That said, there's no reason for you to switch to anything you don't feel
you will benefit.

Steven
