Sheridan George replied to me:

Appreciate your reply.

I got the ABR. It came with an updated firmware ver. 1.20
diskette,
which I think someone mentioned may not be the latest. (Which
may
have some bearing on the NetScape-related bug ?)

They will be getting RoadRunner cable. I don't think fixed IP is

even an option there. If it is, I bet it's only in a business
level account
costing much more. (This setup isn't for me -- I already have
the
Sonic Wall device installed in my system.)

Thanks anyway. If anyone else knows of dynamic IP - specific
values
I will need from the service provider, in this scenario, please
post them.

I bought the unit shortly after the last meeting. Thanks for the

offer, and I may very well take you up on that, if the need
arises.

Good to know. One thing I worry about with this, incl. the Print

Server business, is that these are pretty clueless W98 users who
will be relying on whatever I set up. If the SMC "blanks out"
somehow -- say after a Reset or loss of power -- and they
suddenly
can't reach the 'Net or do a print job, I just know I'll be
getting
a panicked phone call. That's why I mentioned previously my
belief
that this gizmo should probably be connected to a good UPS, and
that this arrangement using the SMC (also for network printing)
will need to be fairly bullet-proof in order for it to be an
appropriate solution in this case.

[Re any add'l. Print Server: I too would insist on one that does
TCP/IP and is setup by browser.]
