Don't forget to turn on the lprportd daemon in the autostart tab in the TCP/IP set up notebook.

That is true if you have the 7004BR version. The newer one (the last one on sale at Microcenter is
the 7004ABR. (The BR version's firmware is not being updated any more.) For the ABR the default IP
is 192.168.2.1 (add :88 for Netscape users). According to SMC there is a bug in Netscape and better
response will result if the port number is added to the IP even if you change the default IP to
something else. Firmware versions above 1.3 may have a work around.

When setting up the printer object choose \PIPE\LPDx\ (where x is 0 to 8) for the output port. Double
click on the chosen port and fill in the LPD Server box with the IP of the SMC (the :88 is not
necessary here) and the LPD Printer box with lp (lower case LP).
I have a mixed IP address set up here. All three of my OS/2 machines are fixed but I found I had less
problems with the NT box with it on DHCP. So the SMC serves it an IP and the OS/2 boxes I control.
