Yes, you should run one right after another. Here's what I do. I run
UniMaint first. Afterwards, since it does not restart the WPShell, I
wait a few minutes (don't do anything) until OS/2 updates the real *.INI
files. Next, I run checkini.exe, using a couple of REXX scripts and
PMREXX.EXE. These scripts and PMREXX.EXE give me a good GUI, as opposed
to the command line interface used by cleckini.exe. Next, I run
cleanini.exe, again with a couple of REXX scripts and PMREXX.EXE.
Finally, I use Gamma Tech's Senty to save a complete copy of both *.INI
files, the CONFIG.SYS file and the desktop. I keep 20 generations on my
alternate hard drive.
Before I got some experience with checkini and cleanini I used to save
copies of the system in between using UniMaint and using checkini and
cleanini. I had been using UniMaint for a long time and I had confidence
that it would work properly. I wasn't so sure of checkini and cleanini
(in the beginning).
