Just an aside that's only relevant if you're still interested in
what initially prompted this thread - seeing VFAT-type long
filenames under OS/2. I found a reference that may be of interest
to some:

http://www.dsteiner.com/products/software/os2/ifs.htm

I don't know if this was what was spoken of earlier as an
abandoned effort but it looks like it's developing a product to
access VFAT files from OS/2 using an IFS. From the site, the
following is clipped:

VFAT-OS2 is composed of several parts :
* A 32 bits OS/2 file system driver that allows read-write
access to Windows 95 VFAT file systems.
* A 32 bits OS/2 file system driver that allows read-only access
to Windows NT NTFS file systems.
* Utilities to mount and unmount drive

Just thought this might be of interest.

-Rocky
