The BOOTOS2 utility can create an emergency boot diskette set, which I
have made good use of over the years (as discussed in the Backup article,
currently on the SCOUG website), _or_ a Maintenance Partition on your
hard drive. The latter comes in a choice of 3 varieties: Text Mode / Command
Line (about the same as what you get with the diskettes, except that you
could fit in a whole lot more Text Mode app.s or utils.); Presentation Mgr.,
which is a _very_ minimalist GUI environment, although I don't think you
can run any genuine GUI-based programs in it; and WPS. The last is going
to be closer to a full-tilt WARP. I opted for the middle choice, because I'd
heard that the Desktop for this WPS choice of BootOS2 could -- in certain
scenarios -- get confused or entangled with the Desktop of your "regular"
OS/2 partition, with unappealing results. Don't know if that's true or not,
but I usually like to play it safe.

I may have given you a misleading impression in my earlier post: there is
no real GUI going on over there, so I can't take an actual screen snapshot.
What I meant was that I will make a Tree catalog of the files in place in
this partition, and send it to you.

As I noted in a recent post, I like to use a regular, fully-stocked Warp
partition as my actual Maintenance Partition. That means I can do not
only backups and file maintenance from there, but also Internet access,
PMVIEW, the major complement of app.s & util.s -- you name it. I added
the BOOTOS2 partition just because I thought I should try it out and see
what it looked like. It is due to be replaced by a different partition shortly.
