Hello
one solution of my OS/2 Maintenance Partition looks like
following:

HDD1 (this is a small disk only used as system disk)
---------
Partition 1 / primary C: WIN98 / FAT
OS/2 Bootmanager
Partition 3 / primary C: OS/2 PROD / HPFS
Partition 3 / primary C: OS/2 TEST / HPFS

HDD2 (big disk for non system use, except for the Maintenance
Partition)
---------
Partition 1 / primary D: FAT or HPFS: OS/2 Maintenance Partition
Partition 2 / logical E: HPFS: Applikations & Programs
Partition 3 / logical F: HPFS: Files (Down- & UpLoads and
Transfers)
Partition 4 / logical G: HPFS: Generation
Partition 5 / logical H: HPFS: Home for user data

Main OS is OS/2 ...
... WINxx is used only for some really special purposes !

Both OS/2 environments are Warp 4 with FP15.

Absolutely NO experiments are allowed in the PROD environment.
So experiments and system test are done in the OS/2 TEST
environment only and
only positive test experiences will be introduced into the PROD
environment !

The Maintenance Partition in primary D: can be generated in few
ways:

a) Performance Plus V 4.0
b) BootOS
c) Created "System Utility Disks" from OS/2 System / System Setup
Folder
d) normal but slim OS/2 Warp installation from original CD-ROM

My personal favorite is "d)" but kept on FP10 resp. 12 !

With this system environment I am able to work under all
conditions from:
PROD or TEST, or rarely WINxx and even with the Maintenance
Partiton too.
After failing experiments in TEST I recreate the TEST environment
from PROD
with Drive Image ;-)

Hope you like this idea ...
... I like to learn from your ideas and suggestions ;-)
