May I do my comments to the named OS/2 books ?  
As a beginner you learn the best with the built-in OS/2 tutorial !  
It's free ;-))

Both of these books are "fat bombers" ...  
... just type "Help SYSnnnn" or "Help [device or similar] on a  
command line   
and you get helped too ;-)
