Hi Jack,
Majordomo, as far as I know, is a program that runs a mailing list. You
start Majordomo and it watches for email addressed to itself, then
automatically handles those emails.
For example, if you send an email to majordomo@scoug.com and in the body
of the message put
help
it will send back a message with "help" information on how to talk to
Majordomo. If you put in your message a line that says
lists
then Majordomo will send back a message with the names of all the
different email lists it is running, so you can subscribe to them if you
want.
You can even ask for the names and email addresses of everybody on the
lists, and some people who run Majordomo don't block this option so you
can actually see who is on the lists.
Anybody can run Majordomo and have their own mailing lists (as many as
you want). There's probably a port of Majordomo on Hobbes.
In the case of Majordomo@eyup.org, the guy who owns the eyup.org domain
is running the Majordomo program which is handling his Unix-OS2 and some
other mailing lists.
Whoops, time's up. I have to get back to San Diego.
