I tried it -- had to register -- and it worked fine.  
 
Since Steven said "There's a 3rd way to access os2bbs, via telnet ..." I tried (from Mozilla):  
    Ctrl+shift+L (open web location...)  
    For the URL I typed in: telnet://bbs.os2bbs.com  
    Up popped a telnetpm window and I was soon in.
