Well, now that Sandy's 3COM's is working, it's time to try another. :-)  
 
For posterity, the problem was either he never installed the Thinkpad  
configuration utility for the 600E or it was not installed correctly.   
Once this was done, OS/2 was able to retrieve the BIOS settings and assign  
resources correctly.  
 
To fix the problem, we'll need a few things:  
 
 - a better description than "not working"  
 - a short review of the notebook configuration  
 - copies of  
   protocol.ini  
   setup.cmd  
   dhcpd.cfg  
   lantran.log  
   config.sys  
   startup.cmd
