I'm not exactly sure which userid and password you are talking about.
There are BIOS passwords which can be reset by clearing the MB BIOS using
a jumper on the MB. I vaguely recall that some Thinkpads had the option
to password protect the removable drives. Is the what you are talking
about? If so, my memory said that the reset had to be done by a service
center because the procedure is proprietary.

A bit more info on the notebook model might help my memory.
