The URL for the w3 consortium validation service:
http://validator.w3.org/
linked to from their main page at http://www.w3.org/.
I realize they have their own 'agenda' (getting their standards
widly accepted etc.) and that getting this validator to
access some pages, which might be behind password protection,
could be, ughughugh, 'problematic',
but it could be a good tool in winning arguments.
I've set up a page at
http://www.lafn.org/~aw585/stupidtrickswith.html
that illustrates the problem I had with some bad html,
and another instance that goes through the validator.
Some people tested this last night from Lilax,
and the results varied from the effect that embarrassed me
when the original page went up, to at least one browser
that refused to render the page and just showed the source.
Oh well.
I mentioned the Dave W.'s idea of an HTML Hall of Shame on
#Lilax irc last night, and Art Johnson wanted to post about
it to slashdot when SCOUG works the details out.
Now for something completely different:
I've put up a page with all my rants, and a forward
from SANs by Peter Benjamin at:
http://www.lafn.org/~aw585/snmp3.html
linked from my original page at:
http://www.lafn.org/~aw585/snmp2.html
Which reminds me I need to put a link back to the original page
on snmp3.
