That doesn't work here as connected, but it does if I connect the SMC to
a PC directly.

I have only gotten one page, and it's always the same error message with
nothing else.

I had already tried that experiment. iptrace shows packets being sent,
but I don't know how to tellwhat is being sent. The extra page doesn't
happen when printing from W98 so OS/2 is either sending the extra page
or sending something that causes the SMC to print the extra page that
W98 isn't sending.

Sheridan, thanks for your response, and Peter's too. I plan to contact
SMC too, but wanted to rule out other possibilities first. The port
properties view has several options and I've tried several combinations
with no change in behavior. One of the windows in the port properties
view provides for "additional control cards". Looking into control
cards, I found that they contain single letter commands with a following
parameter, e.g., a file name. One of the commands is a "p", and the
extra sheet I get has "unknown command p" in the error message. I
haven't searched yet, but I don't know of anything like this in W98. I
can't find anything in the driver page that has any effect either.

One day we'll understand,
Ben A.
