As Steven pointed out context is important.
Port LPT1 and \pipe\lpd0 lpt1 are not the same.
If you choose LPT1 as the port in the printer object, the data will go to the parallel port on the
local machine.
If you choose \pipe\lpd0 as the port and use the IP address of an ABR it expects to see lpt1 as the
name of the printer. If you use the IP address of a BR is expects to see lp as the printer name. If
you use the IP address of a Linksys EPSX3 PrintServer it expects to see either L1, L2, or L3 as the
printer name to choose between one of the three printer ports it has.
