Good suggestion, thanks, I did not know that.

I'll try it out tomorrow, too late to fool with it tonight. I'm just tire=
d
enough to really screw something up.

What bothered me is that checkini INFERS it will get rid of each "Object
handle to non-locateable path" by asking if you want to delete it, but it=
's
still there later. I read the suggestions in emails after this email, so =
I
will try running normally for awhile next time before I try a reboot....
but I tend to doubt checkini would leave those changes to chance. =
Frankly, from prior comments (which sounded good to me) I assumed that th=
e
operating system is using a copy of the ini file(s), and I guess now I'm
not sure what checkini alters, the copy in memory or the copy on the hard=
drive. I think the first time I ran checkini, I simply shut down and
rebooted afterwards. When the stuff I'd asked to be deleted was called ou=
t
again the next time I ran checkini, I thought perhaps I NEEDED to reset t=
he
WPS to bring the newly-changed versions from the hard drive into memory i=
n
order to keep OS/2 from saving the (old) memory versions into those files=
on shutdown, so I did the reset and THEN rebooted. Neither method worked.=
Now I have no idea what is going on there!
>Wayne, is there any chance you can run UniMaint Repair on your system to=
>see if it will fix your INI's? It worked here when checkini wouldn't.
=
Well, I tracked UniMaint down on the internet the other day and found it
was chargeable software, and... I guess I can purchase it if necessary, b=
ut
I'll try the other suggestions first. I did download the demo version,
which I haven't unzipped as yet, but I think I recall that the demo versi=
on
doesn't make alterations.
