iirc in order to install the OS I had to install the latest BIOS
upgrade, then had to tweak something in the BIOS which required a
utility program because you couldn't get to the BIOS settings from the
boot screen, and then Compaq had customized the hardware somehow (I
think it was the IO cards and the hard drive cards) and I had to get the
latest drivers for that.
Compaq tech support was excellent.
