Yup, sound came back.  I started pushing buttons and arrows and sound came  
back muted and then with full volume.  I have no idea what the problem  
was, but sound is fine now. I mentioned to you on Sunday my printer was a  
usb Epson Stylus color 740.  I just converted it to a parallel by  
switching cables.  I've downloaded a driver from hobbes.  Now to learn how  
to install. Thanks for your help
