Hi Butch
You have to change the config.sys to tell the system to be set
from floppies
and not from the obsolete CD-stuff ...
... the reservedriveletter=r is a question of comfort and my
experience shows
that reservedrveletter=r sets the CD-ROM's letter to "S" like
System !?
Well, with these 2 modification your installation shall work !
A hint: Before starting your installation do download
DaniS506r145.zip from
hobbes and do unzip it to a floppy ...
... after the installation process you should do a replacement of
IBM1S506.ADD
with the DaniS506.ADD !
But first you do your installation !
Good luck, svobi

I must have done something right this time when copying the
updated
diskettes ui1.exe and ui2.exe. I tried them with an install and
I made it
thru the installation to an error that I didn't have enough hard
disk space.
I was at the setup of the boot partition, etc. I got a little
confused with
this page, but at least I can start the installation. The fdisk
program I
reached read the hard drive as being 13 gig, which is correct. I
will have
to read and discover what I need to create for the system
installation.
Svobi said
"you normally have 3 Diskettes for your installation !
The first Diskette is the still unchanged Installation Diskette
(0=Zero)
With the UI exe files you will get accurate Diskette 1 and
Diskette 2
Now you have to check the config.sys on your Diskette2 and add:
set copyfromfloppy=1
reservedriveletter=r
With these entries your installation process will work !
With reservedriveletter=r your CD-ROM will get the letter "S" and
you can adjust to your needs ;-)"
I didn't do that yet. Must I still change the config.sys if the
installation started like it did?
Thanks for the help and sorry I am so slow and discombooberated.
Kinda hard
multitasking: watching a 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 grandkids, cleaning
house and
trying to do this. Impossible, but just about the only time I
have right
now.
Any advice on setting up boot and partitions would be appreciated.
Thanks, again.
