If you are responding to someone asking for help who

Butch,
I believe that I can partially help you. Your boot partition, the one in
which you install OS/2 will have to be <= 8 GB. That's a absolute limit
for the HPFS (high performance file system). Perhaps it's a limit for
the OS/2??
Your OS/2 Warp 4 should have to come with a set of installation
diskettes and a CD-ROM containing most of the OS installatin. I believe
that there are 3 diskettes as follows:
Installation Diskette
Diskette 1
Diskette 2
You will use the 3 diskettes to prepare your system for the majority of
the installation, which will come from files on the CD-ROM.
Start your computer and insert the first diskette (Installation
Diskette) for the bootup on that diskette. Follow the instructions on
the diskette. You will have to first partition you hard drive, using the
FDISK.COM program (on the diskette). The partition into which you
install OS/2 must be <= 8GB, as stated above. You will want to first
create a small partition for the Boot Manager (7 MB). Make it a
startable partition. Next, you will want to create the partition for
installing OS/2. Make it a bootable partition. It will have to be <=
8001MB, or you will not be able to set the bootable flag. After that,
you will have approx 5GB left on your hard drive. You can create none,
one or more partitions with the remaining.
After you create your partitions, using FDISK.COM, you will have to
reboot on the first floppy (I think). After rebooting you will have to
format the partitions you have created. You can format them as HPFS or
as FAT. I prefer HPFS; it's much better.
After you format the partitions the installation will continue and you
will have to make several choices. Eventually, the installation will
switch to the CD-ROM for the bulk of the work.
Hopefully, your installation will go without a hitch. If not, hopefully
we can get you through it via email.
Good luck
HCMotin
