O.K., I checked it out. Much to my surprise, in the SCSI BIOS for the 2940U I found a line
"BIOS Support for Bootable CD-ROM Disabled"
which could presumably be ENabled. I'm 95% sure that I've seen a Boot Order option in the Award BIOS for the P2B-F that
could include the CD. So it should be possible with the h/w I have right now. (Notwithstanding the misleadingly phrased
"No SCSI BIOS found" report during reboots . . . ?) The P3B-F should not offer any _less._
I found an overview file for the latter mb, available only in WinBook format, and it seems that the "SmartBios" feature
with all the myriad boot options was included at least circa this model. But if you wanted to boot from a Zip or MO drive,
this might not have been possible earlier.
