Then they probably are an alternate option in this area, much as is EarthLink DSL.
Either would be in effect sub-leasing the Pac Bell infrastructure for DSL, though each
will have their own servers and support. My original decision to go with Pac Bell was
(in part) that I might as well go with the source, and to not have to rely upon third party
install or support, such as Covad. But whatever advantages there may have been could
have evaporated by now. I do know that EarthLink uses PPOE (which I did not want),
unless you buy a rather expensive business-level account.
