This is for Gary, Steven, or anyone else using a latter day
("T"-series ?) Thinkpad.

Which model did you get ? Are there any conspicuous gotchas / things
you would
do differently now in terms of h/w options or setup configuration, if
you had a
chance to do it over again ? The obvious example I've most heard
about is avoiding
a Winmodem in favor of a good NIC / 56k combo card. But there must be
others.

It is my understanding that only this 2-spindle series, among the
current leading
TP offerings, supports OS/2. Most users will skip the floppy drive.
(I think the
non-OS/2 supporting "A" series let you have all three at once, and the
FDD could
be a dual LS-120 unit, if those are still around.)

Quite some time ago, a great deal on TPs was linked and discussed
here. I don't
recall the details, such as if these were refurbs or not. STI has
some kind of a deal
going right now, described on the VOICE List, though as to how good a
deal it is I
have no real basis for comparison. I remember STI as a vendor of
scanner bundles
and drivers, and would like to hear any comment about them that may be
relevant
to dealing with them, whether pro or con. There are very few vendors
left who do
any made-to-order setups involving OS/2.
