Why those nasty people.

Ben, try this instead:
http://www.openwatcom.org/
and see Harry's great installation article (based on his March
presentation) at:
http://www.scoug.com/os24u/2002/scoug204.watcom.html

If you'd rather stay with the GCC base, you might want to move to PGCC
2.95.3 at:
http://www.goof.com/pcg/
and review the GCC-PGCC differences at:
http://www.goof.com/pcg/os2/differences.html

Personally, I'd switch to Open Watcom.

The os2-unix mail list (os2-unix@eyup.org) is quite busy. I *think* you
join by sending an email to
majordomo@eyup.org
with the following in the body of the message:
subscribe os2-unix
and anything you want in the header (I put "subscribe os2-unix" there as
well).

There are some good developers on the os2-unix mail list. If you can't
make up your mind on GCC / PGCC / Open Watcom, join the list and ask
*them* what to do. I expect you'll get your Octave port done a lot
quicker if you let them help you. :)

And don't forget about the resources at UnixOS2:
http://www.unixos2.org/
where you might find some other people interested in working on an
Octave port, or at least some good help.
