Yes, it's WAD, but does cause problems in some cases.

This can help if you use CALL's in config.sys.

There are also enhanced started folders that allow you to delays object
activation.

You might consider using a lock files:

startup.cmd

echo >\startup.running
... stuff ...
del \startup.running

If your startup folder objects are invoking .cmd files, it's easy to loop
until the lock file goes away.

Yes and yes. See my response to Ray.

I would suspect IDE controller or MB issues before I would suspect the
video card. Are you using Dani's latest drivers? They seem to handle
glitches better than IBM's stuff.

This is excellent advice within a organization. It does not work so well
in a single-user environment.
