Subject: SCOUG-Help: dialup internet failure

I'm posting this message for Denny Jizba who recently posted queries about
installing APL/2. Unable to solve his APL/2 installation problem he
retreated to what he thought was a safe position and re-installed eCS. Now
he cannot connect to his dialup ISP. Here's what he reads in his dialer:

info: remote message
error: [chapreceivefailure] chap authentication failed
info: fsm_rtermreq LCP terminated at peer's request
notice: LCB_domain: connection terminated

He's using the dialer that comes with eCS, and has installed and set
himself up several times in the past. I haven't used a dialer for a long
time (not since DSL) and can't interpret these dialer messages with
confidence, but it seems that he's connecting but not authenticating which
would suggest a userID or password problem to me. I will pass any advice
to Denny by phone.

Thanks,
Ben Archer
