Ben,

I spent several hours at Brea Microlab. It
appears that the modem test fails, but it is NOT
the modem because the test also failed on another
one owned by the lab. My wife's theory that Verizon
cancelled my account is also shot down because I
manage to send this e-mail to you. (I am at the
La Habra public library). I guess that the next step
will be to buy a PC, preferably a cheap one without
an operating system. I wonder if FRY's sells such
hardware.

You may receive a phone call from me this evening or
tomorrow.
