I assume that your assuming is wrong with this:

XCOPY of course does handle all files ...
... but needs some parameters to be set !
XCOPY [source] [target] /H /O /T /S /E /R V
are this "hot service" parameters ;-)
You mentioned another important point:

I never used and never will use compressions for storing data !
If you face any problems with your data ...
... with compression they may be even more worse ;-(
