In the past, although it certainly isn't the most time-efficient  
method, I've had decent success with trial and error.  I've now done  
the best job I could do adapting these diskettes.  Apparently  
ISAPNP.SNP is _not_ an optional file -- even if you don't care about  
ISA slots -- so I put that back.  The results fit on D1 with about 6K  
free, and looked like it might have some chance of working.  AIC78U2  
is on there, but D1 bombs out while loading it, leaving just the ver.  
# logo onscreen -- no error info.  The set never even gets to D2.  I  
expected there would be other roadblocks, other changes required, but  
this is not the type of hangup I expected.  Making these sets in the  
past, it was fairly clear to me if a file ( or different ver. of the  
file) was needed, or needed alternate placement.  
 
I believe that this is the same AIC78U2 file that loads in the course  
of booting the h/d eCS partition.  You can't run the hard drive  
through this SCSI adaptor without it.
