I check this and suspect that it's an issue with the Java 1.1.8 that you
are using with Netscape. This applet appears to require Java 1.3 because
it's doing some appliet security checks. Basically the Java 1.1.8 is too
old to support this.
The applet works fine with Mozilla and Java 1.3.x.
As an alternative, for home use, why don't you give EzIRC, GTIRC or
Mozilla's Chatzilla at try.
