Works here (I'm on Verizon):

Steven is on Earthlink; I agree with him that Verizon is probably
disallowing non-Verizon connections (they disallow a *lot* of stuff).
FWIW, Verizon/GTE (verizon.net and gte.net) just switched their
email to incoming.verizon.net and outgoing.verizon.net.
