Yes, it just searches the file for the signature.

That's up to you. The script I showed only requires that you give a
correct path to the .zip file and that \tmp exist on the current drive.

It depends on the kernel. For a supported kernel, there will be a readme.
For the testcase kernels, you have to follow Scott's postings on
comp.os.os2.bugs. Changes may come and go and may work or not work.
Testcase is what is says it is.
