No apologies needed. Consider the results an educational experience.

Well, from a psychological perspective I find that an interesting
conclusion, especially since you really had no idea what either of the
functions actually did.

>took it because it seemed like the easier. If I put myself in a worse

You did.

I apologise.

Again, none needed.

At any rate, I've looked into ZTBold and found
>c:\os2\archives\current and discovered 272 files using showall.

OK, that's a not very good or clear description of what's really there.
What really there is a copy of your Desktop, config.sys, autoexec.bat and
startup.cmd. This means that a copy a your broken setup is stored in
\os2\archives\current. If you restore these files correctly, you will get
all your installed applications back. Unfortunately, you will also get
back your broken RSJ setup.

Before we proceed, email me a copy of:

c:\os2\archive\current\c$\config.sys

This is your broken config.sys. I should be able to see why you could not
boot with it.

Once I am fairly sure you understand enough to follow my directions, I
will explain how and where to copy the contents of \os2\archive\current
and restore your system to what it was before you restored the original
archive.

Be warned, if you attempt any further recovery actions on your own, it's
very likely you will render the data stored in \os2\archives\current
unusable. This includes attempting to reinstall any of the applications
that are now gone.

I would not spend too much time on reading and such. You may learn some
things, but probably nothing that relates to your specific problem, other
than what's already in this thread, and you will still not have a fully
usable system.

IMO, you just need to be absolutely sure you understand and are following
the directions you re given. If you don't understand a term or a
suggestion, ask for clarification. Don't make assumptions unless you are
prepared and willing to deal with the results of a wrong assumption.

The thing you need to consider is that everyone involved in this thread
other than you already knows how to diagnose and fix problems similar to
what you have. It's only new to you.

Steven
